Access fund

What is the access fund?

BiCon has a long history of making equality and access a priority within the limits of our volunteer and non-profit organisational structures. The Access Fund, also known as the Equality Fund, is provided through community donations and the surplus of previous BiCon events. The Access Fund exists to make BiCon more possible for people who are experiencing a financial, accessibility or equality hardship. Please remember โ€“ you can also pay in instalments, see our tickets page for more details.

How can the access fund help me?

We can help with financial costs in a variety of ways. Common things we offer are:

  • A discount from the ticket cost (typically a reduction of between a quarter and a half)
  • A ticket for your carer to attend with you
  • Material goods that can help you to attend BiCon that you cannot afford yourself

This is not an exhaustive list, if there is some other way that you feel the access fund could help you, you can record it on the form we will send you after you register.

Can I apply?

Anyone can apply, and we encourage you to apply anyway if youโ€™re unsure. No proof of income or outgoings are required โ€“ we trust you.

How do I apply?

We will send you a form after you register.

Allocations will be decided in batches so early applicants will not have to wait too long for a funding offer.

Application deadlines:
23rd April
21st May
25th June

How do you decide who is eligible?

Once you have applied to the access fund, you will receive a follow up e-mail with a form attached (check your spam inbox if you havenโ€™t received it within 14 days). We will gather information from you to help us understand if and how we can best help you to attend BiCon.

Priority to the access fund will be given to those have never attended BiCon before and minority groups.

How do I donate to the access fund?

Use our Stripe donation link, or add a donation when you pay for your ticket.
