BiCon accommodation is in the Carnegie Village on the Headingley Campus of Leeds Beckett University. This is the same accommodation that we used in 2017, so anyone at BiCon then should know what to expect.
The accommodation is grouped in flats of 11 rooms each, with a shared kitchen and social space. Some flats are on the ground floor, others are on the first floor. There are two lifts in the building, each with doors 89cm (35 inches) wide.
All internal doors are manual with self-closing mechanisms. This includes the doors to the wheelchair-adapted rooms. The doors to the flats and to the individual rooms are operated by a key fob which you will be given upon registration at BiCon.
The building has a large foyer with sofas and power points available.
The rooms
Each of the rooms in the flat has a bed, a desk, a chair, drawers, cupboard space and an ensuite bathroom with a toilet, wash basin and shower.
The photograph below shows the bed and desk in a typical room.
The photograph below shows the bathroom in a typical room. Note that the shower is only separated from the rest of the room by a curtain.
This view of the bed shows that there are electrical sockets next to the bed head. Note that the photo was taken on a recent site visit while the room was being cleaned, and so the bed is missing bedding, which will be provided for our visit.
Wheelchair-adapted rooms
The venue has three wheelchair-adapted rooms. These are larger, with an expanded bathroom with alarm cords. The door to the room is not automatic but is like the other room doors, a spring-loaded self-closing fire door.

The kitchen
The shared kitchen has electric hobs, ovens, kettles, microwaves, a toaster, fridges, freezers and a sink. The social area has sofas and a television.
